Football Season Kick's Off

Robby's first game coaching with a college football team was last night. It was the 4th Annual Chowder Bowl where SUNY Maritime played against Mass Maritime. A few local restaurants came prior to the game and had a cook-off of Manhattan Clam Chowder, which was surprisingly really good! I had never tried Manhattan Clam Chowder before.

The game started with the Freshman in the Regimen marching on the field, the presentation of the colors and the National Anthem.

Then the guys waited to storm the field

They set up on the side line, and waited for Kick-Off.

They scored into the 1st Qtr! Check out the bridge and water right behind the field, it was such a great view.

As per tradition, when SUNY Maritime wins, they break a board with the opponents team's name on it.

The win was a great way to start off the season, keep it up!

5 Boroughs, ONE DAY

Some friends of ours here in NYC mentioned that they had the goal to see all 5 Boroughs (Manhattan, Staten Island, The Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens) all in one day. We thought that would be a lot of fun, so in July, we also attempted the One-Day Adventure. 

1^st Stop: Breakfast in Manhattan

               The place we originally planned to go to was closed, so we went to this Restaurant and had blueberry pancakes!

2^nd Stop: Snack @ Italian Bakery in the Bronx

                We arrived to Conti’s Bakery and had delicious lattes and canollis

3^rd Stop: Lunch in Staten Island

                We took the Ferry to Staten Island and ate at the Cargo Café (more of a bar scene – but it was very good) We had appetizers and beer, because we were still full from the bakery :)

4^th Stop: Ice Cream in Queens

              We walked around Flushing Meadows/ Corona Park. This is where the last scenes of MIB were filmed with the big globe fountain. And we had the best Ice Cream in NYC... 

5^th Stop: Dinner in Brooklyn

                We had dinner on the rooftop of a restaurant on 4 Berry Street in Williamsburg. There was a great sunset, and we had great views of Midtown Manhattan.

6^th Stop: Walked the Brooklyn Bridge back to Manhattan

                We loved getting to walk across the bridge, seeing the city all lit up, it was beautiful!!

7^th Stop: HOME!

                It was a long day, but a great adventure. We loved it so much that we are planning to do it again, and visit all new places. We'll keep you posted.

Philly Trip

So! 

We finally got to take our trip that was scheduled for and canceled in December just this last weekend to celebrate our anniversary!!!! We had such an amazing time :D the weather in Philly was gorgeous! We were able to walk, for the most part, to all the places we wanted to go (We've had extensive NY training ;)).

We went to... (takes deep breath) the Constitutional Building, the U.S. Mint Building (they were closed :(), Independence Hall, the Liberty Building (where the Liberty Bell is), the First Bank of the United States, the Revolutionary War Tomb of the Forgotten Soldier, Love Park, the Philadelphia Art Museum, the first meeting house, Penn's Landing, City Hall aaaaannnnnd saw the Ben Franklin National Science Museum! PHEW, hope I didn't forget any.

We were able to take a lot of great pictures that most of you may have already seen on Robby's Facebook account. Here are some more that he did that he made into panoramic pictures or HDR!!

Some Things that we must do while we live in NYC

A friend of ours started a blog and had a list of 30 things she had to do before she turned 30... I loved the idea so much I am going to start a list of things that we must do while we are living in The Big Apple.

These are in no particular order, AND we will probably add a ton more :)

1. See a Broadway Show
2. Eat at a famous Deli
3. Visit all 5 Boroughs (Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx) in one day, and eat something in each one... (We got this from our friends' list)
4. Take a carriage ride through Central Park on a beautiful snowy day
5. Ice Skate in The Park
6. Eat at The Boat House (in Central Park)
7. Go on a Row Boat in Central Park
8. Take Pix on the Brooklyn Bridge
9. Visit the U.S.S Intrepid

A lot have to do with the Park it seems :)
